The city offers everything you need to study, develop and explore, whether you are looking for new cultural experiences, a lovely seaside outdoor life or just a place to relax. You are welcome!

Het Koffiepand
The perfect spot to sit down and relax. In a homely atmosphere, the staff will make you feel at ease right away. There are students playing board games on old train benches and people working on their laptops while catching some rays on the terrace. The details in the interior are amazing. You will spot something new every time. Treat yourself to delicious cakes, yummy food and good company in a homely atmosphere.
Seventy-Seven
Seventy-Seven is a homely pub, or 'brown café', as the Dutch call it. In fact, many would say it is the homely pub of Middelburg. It is a must-visit spot as far as we're concerned. Whether you are looking for a delicious meal, a good conversation or to dance the night away to great music, Sev is the place to be. Everything here is infused with good taste, including the restrooms which are definitely worth a visit (and a picture).
Expresszo
A gorgeous location: this trendy espresso bar is situated on a corner in a beautiful building. The décor made us feel happy straight away. The staff are very friendly and always up for a chat. We just keep coming back to this place. The coffee is exactly as it should be: freshly roasted and brewed with love. Even if you are not a coffee fan, you will find plenty of other treats on the menu. They even have a B&B, we noticed on the website!
Eleanor
Eleanor is a quirky, elegant and authentic design hotel in the beautiful old town. The building, dating back to 1752, offers guests and locals alike a place where they can feel at home. Combined with a brasserie and a cocktail bar, Eleanor is a spot in Middelburg that is definitely worth a visit.
Frituur 't Smulhoekje
Het Smulhoekje is located on the edge of the Molenwater city park. They work with fresh potatoes and transform them into delicious fries. There is plenty of choice in snacks, and they even work with local products. Vegetarians and vegans have plenty of choice as well. A household name in Middelburg for years, Het Smulhoekje is definitely worth a stop when you are visiting the city!
Tante Kookt
When you think of the Molucca Islands in Indonesia, food springs to mind straight away. The recipes are passed down through the generations, and you can taste it. At Tante Kookt, you can get delicious dishes that are clearly cooked with a great deal of love.
De Houttuinen
A green oasis of tranquillity on the edge of the city centre, where you can escape the hustle and bustle, and enjoy great food or a nice drink. You or your children can play in the garden, or just relax in a hammock. The Houttuinen is a place where locals and tourists alike love to hang out.
De Herberg
You will find De Herberg right in the centre of Middelburg. It is like the living room you have always dreamt of, the website tells us. Fabulous food, excellent beer and you can even play a game if the mood grabs you.
