Water. For as long as Middelburg has been around, the city has always coexisted with water. We have fought against the water and we have learned how to use it to our advantage. As a major trading town in the 17th century, vessels delivered goods right up into the town center. These days, the city harbor is filled with pleasure yachts. The canal connects us to the North Sea and Lake Veere. This means you can sail, row and paddleboard in the middle of the city!

Discover Middelburg from the water. A cruise through the canals transports you to the past. Sail past beautiful monuments and listen to the skipper's stories about the origins of the city and its rich history.
The Middelburg marina is ideally situated. As soon as you sail via the canal into Walcheren, you will see the Lange Jan peering out over the city. You will find yourself surrounded by gorgeous, monumental buildings as you sail the same route the trading vessels took in the 17th century. The harbor office is located just before the lovely Spijker Bridge. If you moor here, you will immediately get a feel for the ambiance of the city.

On the water, over the water... It is perhaps the most photographed bridge in Middelburg - the Spijkerbruggetje. Connecting Kinderdijk and the Rouaansekaai, it is also the port that leads to some of the most beautiful berths in the marina. The old white cogs of the bridge look great in the sun and in the middle of the bridge, looking out over the canal, it is a popular spot for taking photos.
