Middelburg is the cultural capital of Zeeland. Museums, a concert venue, the theater. And events are also held in many of the national monuments. This combination of new and old creates a really special vibe. The city is just bursting with creativity and enthusiasm and you can see this in the street life. You will see all kinds of galleries and street art throughout the city. Simply stroll through town and you will discover these all by yourself.
You will find the Vleeshal at the market. The butcher's guild used to sell their meats here in the old days, but today, it is a center for contemporary art. Established in the historical former town hall, it is a wonderful combination of old and new. Both international and regional art lovers come here to visit the many exhibitions.

The Oostkerk has to be one of the most beautiful venues to see a concert. It is an absolute must for fans of pop concerts, classical concerts and even "walking dinners". The old Oostkerk is flourishing again and is today a much-loved location for cultural events. It is a place where visitors from all over can experience how our cultural heritage connects with contemporary art.

The Schouwburg is situated at the edge of the Molenwater Park and next to the Koepoort. You can clearly see that this theater was completely renovated in 2007. Thanks to its ideal location, a night at the theater can easily be combined with a leisurely night stroll through town, a bite to eat or a drink at one of the nearby cozy cafes.
